The standout defender has also expressed his view that Pompey can provide him with the platform needed to gain more prominence with Wales.
The 25-year-old, who has been in fantastic form this season, made his Dragons debut last month in a 4-0 victory over Gibraltar.
That came after a significant stint in the international wilderness after Ryan Giggs’ 2019 call-up, during which Poole was unable to secure any playing time.
The summer arrival from Lincoln found it tough to not get on the field after coming so close, but Rob Page’s first senior cap has helped to lessen his anguish.
Poole is hurting for further involvement as Wales prepares to travel to Armenia and host Turkey in two make-or-break Euro qualifiers across the international break this month.
The former Manchester United man believes the platform afforded him at Fratton Park during a flying start to the campaign played a key role in his call-up.
Now the belief is that more of the same can follow if Poole continues to maintain the high standards he’s set at PO4.
He said, ‘The longer I can stay in the squad, the better, and I’m hoping for as many more call-ups as possible.
‘I was called up a few years ago and got that little experience of being with the boys, but I didn’t actually get on the pitch, so I was quite disappointed.
‘Now that I’ve got on the pitch, I’m looking to be in the squad and be a mainstay there.
Thus, while I hope it turns out to be the case, my family and I can be extremely proud of the fact that I represented my country in sports.
This is my first call-up in a very long time. As a team, we’re performing well at Portsmouth, and personally, I think I’m doing okay.
I should be able to continue playing for the team if I can maintain that form.
“I’m having a great time here, and I knew that when I joined this football team, we should be competing at the top of the league,” the player said.
