Milan’s five targets are part of a scheme to eventually resolve the striker issue.

The management at AC Milan is aware of the need to address the striker position, and they could make a move as early as January, according to a report.

During the summer transfer window, Milan actively pursued a new striker, eventually signing Luka Jovic just before the deadline. However, Jovic has not yet made a significant impact at the club.

One of the names Milan pursued in the summer was Mehdi Taremi, but the deal fell through due to commissions requested by his agents at the last minute. Taremi’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season, and if the situation at Milan remains the same, with Jovic not considered a suitable deputy for Giroud, Milan could consider Taremi as an option in January.

However, there are potential obstacles to overcome. Porto, Taremi’s current club, is likely to progress to the Champions League knockout stages and may be reluctant to sell one of their key players mid-season.

In addition to Taremi, if he does not renew his contract with Porto, Milan’s management is already compiling a list of possible candidates. Four names have emerged as strong and attractive options, with Jonathan David being the most popular choice. There could be an approach for him in January, but the French club will likely demand a fee of at least €50 million.

The other profiles that are being considered include Benjamin Sesko of RB Leipzig, Joshua Zirkzee of Bologna, and Santiago Gimenez of Feyenoord.
