This West Brom player is proving he still has something to offer the club.
Despite a slow start to the season, West Bromwich Albion appears to be in contention for a play-off spot. Last season, the Baggies were largely disappointing, falling behind as the campaign progressed and failing to compete with the play-off contenders.
It initially appeared that things wouldn’t improve for the Midlands side, as they had a challenging summer. Manager Carlos Corberan was only allowed to make three new player acquisitions, and, in the meantime, they lost several key first-team members. The club faced a situation where they needed to reduce the wage bill and raise funds to bring in new players for Corberan.

During the summer, there were reports that the club might need to raise funds, and three players were identified as possible departures, with midfielder Nathaniel Chalobah being one of them.
West Brom seemed willing to let Chalobah depart in the summer if the right offer came in. In July, there were reports that Chalobah had traveled to Israel to join Maccabi Haifa. However, the move eventually fell through, and he returned to England to train with the Baggies.
West Brom had signed Chalobah in January of the same year from Premier League side Fulham, and he played a significant role toward the end of the previous season. While his future was uncertain during the summer, looking at the player and the team’s current situation, it appears to be a positive outcome that he stayed with the club after all.
Could Nathaniel Chalobah have left West Brom in the summer?
The Baggies had to find a way to reduce their pay expenditure and raise money so that they could sign new players to replace Corberan.According to a lot of reports, West Brom would allow Chalobah to leave in the summer if the proper offer came along.
According to John Percy of the Telegraph, Chalobah traveled to Israel by plane in July to sign with Maccabi Haifa. It was soon discovered, though, that the transfer had failed, and he was back in England working out for the Baggies.
