“It doesn’t seem good,” Appleton confirms, adding that Charlton Athletic will be without the striker for “a few months.”

Charlton Athletic manager Michael Appleton has revealed that Chuks Aneke is facing a significant period on the sidelines, likely lasting “a couple of months at least,” due to a new injury setback.

Aneke, a striker for Charlton Athletic, has experienced a string of unfortunate injuries during his second tenure at the club. After an extended period out, he returned to the team in mid-September. Since then, he has made six appearances in League One, contributing a goal and an assist. However, during the recent 4-0 victory over Reading, he was substituted shortly after the one-hour mark.

As a result, he missed Charlton Athletic’s midweek defeat to Lincoln City, and manager Michael Appleton stated that Aneke would undergo a scan. The early assessment suggests that the former Arsenal player is facing at least “a couple of months” on the sidelines, pending a specialist’s evaluation.

Appleton mentioned, “Early indications from what the first scan shows doesn’t look great, if I’m being honest.”

This injury is another setback for Aneke, who has previously proven himself as a crucial player for Charlton Athletic. While he was working on regaining full match fitness, this new injury will be a significant blow. Nevertheless, the support from the club’s coaching staff, squad, and fans will likely be unwavering as Aneke goes through the recovery process.

During Aneke’s absence, it is expected that players like Alfie May and Miles Leaburn could lead the attack, and loanee Slobodan Tedic is another option up front. The injury might also prompt Charlton Athletic to consider their options in the transfer market in the future. They may explore talent from their academy ranks, and Daniel Kanu could be an option when he returns from his loan at Southend United.
