Another Outstanding Star Says He Could Not Turn Down The Chance To Join Leeds United In The summer

Leeds United goalkeeper coach Ed Wootten has claimed he could not turn down the chance to reunite with Daniel Farke in the summer.

Wootten was speaking on the Official Leeds United Podcast, where he was asked about the feeling of working alongside Farke once again after their time together at Norwich City.

It was a summer of complete change from top to bottom at Elland Road following the club’s relegation from the Premier League, with Wootten among the new members of Leeds’ backroom team.

Previous goalkeeper coach Marcos Abad – a recommendation of Victor Orta – made his exit from the Whites in July after six years at the club.

Despite Farke’s exit from Norwich two years ago, Wootten remained at Carrow Road until June earlier this year, with his move to Leeds bringing his six-year long association with the club to an end.

Wootten says Leeds move was a ‘no brainer’
Reflecting on his move to Leeds alongside Farke, Wootten says it was a ‘no brainer’ decision once he got the call, and is really pleased to be working with a manager who takes such a ‘firm interest’ in goalkeepers.

“We just picked up from where we left off really. We spent four-and-a-half years together at Norwich and since that point, the manager and the staff went onto do a few other bits in Germany. To be reunited with them when I had the opportunity was a no brainer.

“We get on closely, it was a real pleasure to be invited back into that group of staff. In the sense of our relationship, it’s very positive. He allows me to get on with my work day to day, and he has a firm interest in the goalkeepers which is great in my opinion.”
