West Brom takeover ‘Dialogue’ Continuing As They Seek Guochuan Lai Solution And Decision Made
West Brom’s board are trying to accelerate the takeover process and Mayor Andy Street says he is in talks with different parties
West Midlands Mayor Andy Street was in attendance at The Hawthorns on Tuesday evening as West Bromwich Albion eventually swept aside lowly Queens Park Rangers thanks to second half goals from Brandon Thomas-Asante and Grady Diangana.
Albion find themselves, against the odds considering their lack of recruitment and injury misfortune, in the play-off places after 13 matches and Carlos Corberan has been roundly applauded for the job he has overseen having marked his one-year anniversary at the club this week.
Albion, though, have bigger issues away from the football pitch which need resolving as a matter of urgency. The club’s managing director Mark Miles has confirmed that talks are ongoing with interested parties with a view to an investment or a full sale of Guochuan Lai’s shares in the coming weeks and months, something that would bring financial security.

West Brom have a welcome new undroppable after watershed moment
The Mayor watched from the Halfords Lane on Tuesday as the Baggies eventually got the better of the Hoops to secure their fifth win of the season and their fifth clean sheet in the space of six matches. The bigger picture is that the club needs all the external support it can get, and Street intends to help along with local MP Nicola Richards and protest group Action For Albion.
“Good to be at the Hawthorns for a great result for the Baggies as they continue to perform on the pitch,” Street posted. “Off the pitch I’m aware of the issues surrounding the ownership, & I’ve been in dialogue with @action4albion, @nicolafrichards & the club as we work towards a solution.”
