Wrexham CEO Shares Big Plans For Future – Suggests Signing Someone Like Newcastle United Unstoppable Star

Wrexham CEO Humphrey Ker has revealed his big plans for the Welsh club moving forwards and even suggested they would look at signing someone like Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak.

Ker has been speaking to Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet about Wrexham’s rise so far and what the future could hold for them.

The Welsh side are now in the third year of being owned by Hollywood stars Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds, who have grand plans for the club moving forwards.

Their ownership has so far seen nothing but success, with the club’s stature rising thanks to their fame and the coverage they have been afforded, including a high profile and well received documentary.

Success is also coming on the pitch, with this season seeing Wrexham return to the football league after a 15-year spell in the National League.

They’re currently fourth in the table after 14 games in League Two, with a tally of 24 points seeing them sit just five points behind leaders Stockport County.

A bid for immediate promotion to League One is very much on the cards if they can continue their solid start to the season but their aims don’t end there by any means, with Ker even suggesting they could sign someone like the Newcastle star, although it would have to be earlier in the individual’s career.

“We aim to go up this season as well, and I think we have good conditions for that. We have started the season well,” he said.

“That is our first goal here and now, but in five years we hope to be as high as possible in the series system.

“In the National League it is almost impossible to sign foreign players because of Brexit, but in League Two and the EFL it is much easier.

“We have just started expanding our scout network. But yes, there is an incredible tradition of Nordic players in English (and Welsh!) football, Swedish players not least.

“I would have loved if we tried to find the next Fredrik Ljungberg, Alexander Isak who is doing incredibly well at Newcastle at the moment, or even Zlatan. We take what we can get. So yes, as time goes on, I hope we will be able to bring in players from all over the world.”
