Huddersfield Town defender Mustapha Olagunju has joined Ebbsfleet United on loan, as announced by their official club website.
Huddersfield Town have let the centre-back head out the exit door on a temporary basis. The Championship side will be hoping he can get plenty of game time under his belt.
Olagunju, 21, has linked up with his new club until January. Ebbsfleet play their football in the National League after winning the National League South title last term.
They are currently sat in 18th position and are three points above the drop zone. The Terriers’ loan manager David Fox has told the club website: “Muzzy has been a player we’ve been excited about for some time, the fact that he already has a First Team appearance speaks to that. This is now the perfect opportunity for him to step up the intensity of the football he’s playing after working for hard to overcome his long-term injury.”
Huddersfield Town loan exit
Olagunju joined Huddersfield back in 2018 after impressing on trial. Prior to his switch to Yorkshire, he had spells at XYZ Academy and Kent Football United.
The prospect has represented the Terriers at various youth levels over recent years and was handed his first professional deal back in 2019 under former boss Danny Cowley.
He played his first and only senior appearance for the second tier outfit in January 2021 in an FA Cup clash against Plymouth Argyle.
Olagunju has been loaned out in the past to Tadcaster Albion, Welling United and Port Vale to help boost his development and will now be eager to show what he can do at Ebbsfleet.
His contract at the John Smith’s Stadium expires at the end of the campaign and they have a decision to make on his long-term future in the meantime.
Darren Moore’s side were beaten 4-0 at home by Cardiff City last time out. They face Leeds United away this weekend.
