Doncaster had much more opportunities and superior general play, but their opponents mercilessly put Rovers to the sword, demonstrating that it’s all about quality rather than quantity.

Faced four efforts all night and was beaten by three of them. Wasn’t helped by poor defending but might have done better with the third goal.
3. Joseph Olowu – 5
Beaten in the air by Matt Smith for the first goal. A disappointing start to the match which gave his team a disadvantage pretty much from the first whistle.
4. Tom Anderson – 5
Beaten by Smith for his second goal. Together will Olowu helped limit Salford to just three chances all night but lost the battle in key moments to a centre forward he has the attributes to deal with.
