George Saville, a midfielder who hasn’t been a regular starter since Allan Campbell’s loan arrival from Luton Town at the end of the previous transfer window, is “fully in my plans,” according to Millwall interim manager Adam Barrett.
Saville and Billy Mitchell have been benched in favor of Campbell and Casper De Norre to play the two central positions.
Since the beginning of September, Saville has not started a Championship game for the Lions. Since September 23, he has played 30 minutes of football, scoring against Plymouth Argyle late in the game after coming off the bench.
The former Middlesbrough and Chelsea midfielder was an unused sub in Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Preston North End.
Barrett told the South London Press: “The guys in the middle of the pitch have got a couple of good results. George Saville is an experienced player and he is a valuable and important member of the squad, there are not two ways about it.
“He is great to have around. As long as I’m taking charge, Savs is going to be in and around it. He has got a big part to play.
“You have got to pick a team that you think suits who you are playing and gets the best out of them.
“Savs is fully in my plans, without a doubt. We all know what he can do. There are no issues, no problems, and I expect him to keep working hard in training, his attitude has been excellent.
“He is really important for the group.”
