Good News: Target Of Tonali’s Lawyers In Negotiations With FIGC Prosecutor Revealed
Sportmediaset reveals Sandro Tonali’s lawyers aim to get a ten-month suspension for the Newcastle and Italy midfielder who is expected to learn the ban’s length before the Magpies’ next Champions League game on Wednesday.
Tonali’s lawyers met FIGC Prosecutor Giuseppe Chiné on Monday to negotiate a plea bargain for the Italian midfielder.
Tonali has reportedly admitted to gambling on Milan and Brescia while under contract with the two clubs so he will likely get a longer ban than Nicolò Fagioli.
However, Tonali is not accused of match-fixing having allegedly gambled on Milan and Brescia to win.
According to Sportmediaset, his lawyers hope to reach an agreement over a 10-month ban, but Chiné has demanded a higher suspension. Therefore, the two parties could eventually agree on a one-year ban for the 23-year-old.
Gazzetta has reported that there is a ‘clear path’ leading to an agreement between Chiné and Tonali’s lawyers. Both Gazzetta and Sportmediast confirm Tonali will likely learn the length of his ban before Wednesday’s Champions League game between Newcastle and Borussia Dortmund.
The FIGC Prosecutor has reportedly accepted to offer a plea bargain to Tonali as the Italian midfielder has assisted the relevant authorities and has sought help to treat his gambling addiction.
