TeamTalk has a great exclusive scoop today stating that Newcastle want to sign central midfielder Kalvin Phillips in January from Manchester City.
Newcastle is looking for a replacement for Sandro Tonali, a central midfielder who has already admitted to engaging in illicit gambling and is likely to get a one-year, international suspension as a result.
Additionally, there was recent reports that CAA Stellar, who are Phillips’ representatives, had a meeting with Newcastle’s Sporting Director Dan Ashworth.
The 30-time England international is reportedly eager to come to Newcastle because he wants to guarantee his spot in the team for the Euro 2024 Championships in Germany next summer.

Phillips signed a 6-year deal with City worth £45M in July of 2022.
But as happens sometimes, when you join a big club like Manchester City, Phillips has not been able to become a starter.
Additionally, he sustained a couple wounds along the road, which did not help.
His salary is rumored to be £150,000 per year, and he might even consent to a small pay cut to move to Newcastle.

Both sides are attempting to come to an understanding over a cost as well as the personal stipulations between Newcastle and Phillips.
