Millwall’s next manager for the Championship: Seven former Sunderland players are among the possibilities.

There are seven former Sunderland figures who are in with a chance of landing the recently vacated Millwall job.

According to several publications, seven former Sunderland employees are in the running for the recently vacant Millwall position in the Championship.

Gary Rowett was fired after four years in command at The Den after the team dropped to 15th in the Championship. Rowett was a former player for Derby County and Everton.
With four victories in their first 11 league games, Millwall is only three points outside the playoff spots.

After Rowett was fired late on Wednesday night, the market for his replacement has already begun, and Sunderland is showing a lot of interest.

Steve Cotterill, a former assistant manager for Sunderland who most recently managed Shrewsbury Town but is currently a free agent, is one of the front-runners for the position. He is offered by BetVictor with a 10/1 odds.

The legendary scorer Kevin Phillips is offered at 25/1 odds to accept the position after leaving non-league team South Shields at the conclusion of the previous campaign after leading The Mariners to promotion. Additionally a free agent, Phillips may be acquired without incurring any expenses.

Former Sunderland assistant manager Steve Cotterill, who was most recently manager of Shrewsbury Town but is now a free agent, is among the favourites to take the job. He is priced at 10/1 by BetVictor.
