See 26-year-old Nottingham Forest player who is a star in the qualifier; yesterday night, he won numerous duels.

Scott McKenna, a defender for Nottingham Forest, gave a standout performance in Scotland’s 2-0 loss to Spain yesterday night.

Despite losing to the Spaniards, the 26-year-old began in a back three and was instrumental in the qualification.

Alvaro Morata, a player who has struggled in England despite it, poses a significant threat on the international stage, was McKenna’s opponent.

The 30-year-old Atletico Madrid striker was largely covered by the Scotsman, but he did manage to score late on.

McKenna produces performance for Forest fans know he’s capable of
Last night was the type of performance Forest fans would’ve seen from McKenna during the Reds’ promotion-winning campaign.
Although the defender only had 27 touches last night, the fewest of any player who played over 45 minutes, the touches he did produce were crucial.

The 26-year-old won seven out of the eight aerial duels he contested last night, providing a real spearheaded performance at the back.

McKenna also made five clearances, with three interceptions as he tried to secure Scotland’s place at EURO 2024.

A potential headache for Steve Cooper

If McKenna can replicate the performance for Forest that he produced last night, it could cause boss Steve Cooper a potential headache.

The defender is out of contract at the end of the season, with the next few months crucial in his future at the City Ground.
