Rangers Star Says “It’s My Fault” After Aris Limassol Shambles And Send Heartfelt Words To The Board

Rangers vice-captain Connor Goldson says “it’s my fault” when asked about Aris Limassol’s Europa League victory over the Ibrox side.

The Gers fell to a 2-1 defeat away to the champions of Cyprus and Connor Goldson lost Aris Limassol centre-back Alex Moucketou-Moussounda for the opening goal.

Shavy Babicka would then double Aris’ lead in the second half before Abdallah Sima – probably the only Rangers player with pass marks on the night – scored what proved to be a fruitless consolation.

Speaking after the match, a despondent Connor Goldson has taken responsibility for Aris Limassol’s opening goal as the latest Ibrox nonsense leaves fans bereft of any confidence in this group of players.

“It’s obviously not good enough,” Connor Goldson told TNT Sports after the game.

“I think we created chances, didn’t take them and then we’re giving away sloppy goals.

“First one a set piece again, it’s my man, it’s my fault, and the second goal we made a mistake and got punished for it.

“It sums us up at the minute; we’re giving away poor goals defensively and we’re not scoring at the other end so we need to get it right.”

The Rangers vice-captain was also asked about the fight in the Ibrox squad and Connor Goldson was adamant the club’s players are digging in despite defeat to Aris Limassol.

With the player’s performances conspiring to get Michael Beale the sack, fan sentiment towards the squad is at rock bottom after letting down club legend Steven Davis.

A failure to defeat St Mirren at the weekend and it will be curtains for several in this Rangers squad – Connor Goldson included – and the defender has urged his side to stop conceding poor goals.

“I feel like we’re fighting,” Goldson started. “I just feel like you give away stupid goals and easy goals and the game gets harder.

“The game at the weekend against Aberdeen we conceded poor goals, tonight we conceded poor goals.

“You concede poor goals in a game of football and it’s hard to win a game.

“Everyone in there in there I think is fighting for each other but at the same time when you’re conceding first goals it knocks you.

“I think we tried in the second half, we created chances but unfortunately we didn’t put them away.”

With Real Betis beating Sparta Prague 2-1 in Spain, Rangers’ defeat to Aris Limassol leaves all four sides on three points after two games.

Rangers and Connor Goldson have some major work to do and with the Ibrox skipper devastated after the Aris Limassol result, the tide doesn’t look like turning just yet.
