Midfield maestro Barry Bannan and forward Josh Windass have missed Sheffield Wednesday’s past two matches as the club’s search for a Championship victory goes on
Barry Bannan and Josh Windass’ availability for Sheffield Wednesday’s historic Yorkshire derby against Huddersfield Town is still unknown. The important combination have not appeared in the Owls’ past two matches owing to injury.
Wednesday lost 1-0 to West Bromwich Albion last night, and captain Bannan was spotted in the crowd at The Hawthorns. Xisco Munoz, manager of the underdog Wednesday team, said: “They are two extremely crucial players for us. Both attempted to make it to the game while injured, but it was impossible.

Forward Mallik Wilks made a much-appreciated comeback from a lengthy absence. The former Hull City player was used as a late replacement for Anthony Musaba in the wide position.
“Mallik was injured in pre-season,” said Munoz. “He was two months without work.
“Every day he is working very well. It’s the first 20 minutes he has played. He played one game in the Under-21s but he also had two very good weeks training.
“I know the level of him and he’s a very good player. I am happy with him and I think he can do good things for the team.”

Three straight defeats has left the Owls rooted to the bottom of the table. They welcome the Terriers to Hillsborough still looking to secure their first win of the season.
The league season for Wednesday has gotten off to its worst start in club history. Although Munoz’s supporters have urged him to step down, the Spaniard has pledged to continue.
I’m working hard every day, he declared. We strive to give our all for the squad, and I am aware of the circumstances.
“All I can say is that I’m sorry. We’ll keep working, and the team needs your support. The supporters make sense to me. Everything I can do is apologize.
