Arrigo Sacchi Heaps Praise On Milan Players And Send 4 Key Words To Stefano Pioli

Arrigo Sacchi seemingly woke up on the right side of the bed as he only had praise for Stefano Pioli and his AC Milan this morning. Unlike a week ago, the former manager believes the Rossoneri were almost perfect.

Following the hard-fought win against Hellas Verona, Arrigo Sacchi stated that Milan were too dependent on Rafael Leao. He went even further by suggesting that the Portuguese winger was preventing the Rossoneri from becoming ‘a collective’

This morning, however, Sacchi had nothing but praise for Milan in his post-match analysis for Gazzetta dello Sport. Even though Leao assisted both of the goals, he believes that the Rossoneri were more of a team last night.

“Milan, against Lazio, especially in the second half, bordered on perfection. An organized, aggressive team, where everyone helped each other, the ball on the ground, no useless long throws, and the departments always connected to each other. And in these conditions, even a pure talent like Leao exalted himself and gave his best. This means, if proof were ever needed, when the team runs perfectly, the champions improve and can make the difference.

“At times, I felt like I was seeing the Milan of the golden times, I’m talking about the Milan of my times, and I’m not exaggerating. Pressing done well, overlapping, doubling of marking, maximum attention. I must congratulate Pioli because he is showing constant progress and I must also congratulate his players because they were able to enthuse the spectators at San Siro and those watching on television,” he wrote.

As alluded to earlier, one could find the words a bit strange in contrast to those of last week. On the other hand, he probably has a point in the sense that when Milan perform as a team, there is less pressure on Leao and he can also get more space on the pitch.
