Tony Mowbray’s ‘Miraculous’ Remark About a 22-Year-Old Brilliant Young Talented Star, According to Sunderland’s Boss
‘Miraculous’ transformation to Sunderland winger Jack Clarke, according to Tony Mowbray
TONY MOWBRAY acknowledges that “something miraculous” happened to Jack Clarke to cause him to become the Championship’s top scorer.
As a result of his two goals in Friday night’s 3-0 victory at Sheffield Wednesday, Clarke increased his total for the season to seven.
The winger, who was the target of several unsuccessful transfer attempts from Burnley in the summer, has been in phenomenal form in the first two months of the season, bursting down the left-hand side and frequently posing a threat to the opposition goal.
Mowbray enjoyed watching his progress in Sunderland’s first team last season, but feels he has kicked on again in the current campaign.
Not, however, that he is wanting to praise the 22-year-old too lavishly as his star continues to rise.
Mowbray said: “I need to keep Jack’s feet on the ground. He’s an amazing footballer, working hard for our team and being really positive.

“When I think back to being manager of Blackburn Rovers and Clarke was barely getting a kick against us for Spurs’ Under21s – something miraculous has happened and at times he is unplayable.
“He’s full of confidence and the opposition don’t know which way he is going. He was a constant threat (against Sheffield Wednesday) and has been all season to every team.”
