Nottingham Forest Creative Star Player Has Been Really Impressing Cooper In Training And Hope To Featured In The Game

Nottingham Forest head coach Steve Cooper is said to be seriously impressed with the attitude of Wayne Hennessey. The Wales stopper is currently the third-choice goalkeeper at the City Ground.

The 36-year-old couldn’t take part in pre-season. The Forest stopper was injured during the close season and that promoted the Reds to sign Matt Turner and Odysseas Vlachodimos.

Hennessey remains at the club and has a year to run on his existing deal. Now, The Athletic has claimed that Cooper has been very impressed with the experienced goalkeeper.

Hennessey remains at Forest – and he’s impressing

It’s not really a surprise that Hennessey is knuckling day and supporting his Forest teammates. The goalkeeper has enjoyed a quality career and he’s seen it all.

Last season, the stopper provided competition for both Dean Henderson and Keylor Navas. He made nine appearances for the Reds in total during 2022/23, keeping three clean sheets.

The signings of Turner and Vlachodimos have naturally caused him to move down the pecking order. With George Shelvey and Aaron Bott also pushing hard, the goalkeeping department is competitive.

What role will Hennessey play this season?

Given that Turner is a player who hasn’t played much football in this country, perhaps Hennessey’s role will slip under the radar. He needs to be the supporting influence and it appears he’s doing just that.

Cooper has been impressed with Hennessey on the training ground and it appears he’s a good influence. It’s hard to see him playing much football but at his age, that perhaps won’t bother him too much.

The challenge for Hennessey now is to keep pushing his Forest teammates. if he can do that, he will feel like he’s still contributed when it comes to the end of the campaign and he leaves the City Ground.
