‘He Was Excellent’: Sean Dyche Says £15m Potential young Player Was Absolutely Incredible
Sean Dyche has raved about Jack Harrison after he made his Everton debut last night.
Speaking to evertontv, the gaffer hailed the Toffees’ summer signing as ‘excellent’ and ‘terrific’ following his return from injury.
Harrison joined Everton on loan from Leeds United this summer, with the Merseyside outfit successfully steering away from Aston Villa’s attempted hijack of the deal.
The winger would be forced to wait to make his debut though after sustaining a hip injury at the back end of last season, which ended up keeping him out of action for over a month after he arrived at the club.
After featuring for Everton U-21s last week, Harrison was finally handed his chance as he started behind Dominic Calvert-Lewin in their Carabao Cup win over Aston Villa on Wednesday night.
The attacker definitely took advantage of his first start, with Dyche amazed by his showing in the Midlands.
“People like Jack came into the side. He’s been absolutely terrific,” Dyche said.
“He’s hardly played but he looks clear and he said he felt clear and I thought he was excellent tonight to come in and work as he did.”
Jack Harrison could be the difference for Everton now
The 26-year-old is still waiting for his first goal contribution for Everton, however he did make a huge impact for the Toffees and at one point put a brilliant ball through for Calvert-Lewin before the striker was halted by Aston Villa’s goalkeeper.
Harrison was eventually replaced by Dwight McNeil but will be eager to feature from the start against Luton Town again this weekend.
The return of Harrison to full fitness could prove to be a huge boost for Everton after they really struggled to create chances in their opening five matches.
The Leeds United loanee gives Dyche a number of options out wide and could play a key role in turning their campaign around, while also adding fierce competition for the players that have been so comfortable in their positions over the last year or so.
