Nottingham Forest 20-year-old dazzles during dramatic
Nottingham Forest B-Team claimed a dramatic win on Saturday as they beat Crystal Palace 4-3 at the Reds’ training ground. In Brandon Aguilera, Forest had a player who was in fine form.
Palace led 2-0 at the break thanks to goals from Hindolo Mustapha and Franco Umeh. However, two minutes into the second half Ateef Konate and Brandon Aguilera had restored parity.
Umeh scored his second of the match in the 55th minute and it looked as though the Eagles were set for a win. In the fourth minute of added time, Manni Norkett equalised and two minutes later, Jamie McDonnell ensured a dramatic victory for the young Reds.
Harry Toffolo also started the game for Forest. He is trying to work his way back to full-match fitness and played for just over an hour in the latest B-Team contest.
It was Forest gem Aguilera who looked the part throughout though. He does look like a real player and his goal was just the tip of the iceberg during a very professional display.
Aguilera stars as Forest B-Team claim dramatic win
And breathe! This was a remarkable clash between two good young sides and Palace will have left Nottingham wondering how they didn’t take anything for their efforts.
In Forest starlet Aguilera, however, Palace found a player in fine form. Clearly, the decision not to loan him out and let him play B-Team football is proving a good one from a Forest perspective.
At 20-years-old, there is a lot of time for the player to continue honing his skills. As a result, perhaps the club sees a loan move as something that can come further down the line.
In pre-season, Aguilera was called a ‘baller’ by Forest defender Moussa Niakhate. The Senegalese defender perhaps had a point and it will be fascinating to see how Aguilera continues to develop.
