Former Reading midfielder Josh Barrett has been tipped to reunite with Tommy Widdrington at National League side Aldershot Town after being left out of Kings Lynn Town’s recent league match, according to the Eastern Daily Press.

Moving to Aldershot Town would be Josh Barrett’s third time working with Tommy Widdrington who is currently the club’s first-team manager. Barrett’s first time was with League One side Bristol Rovers, before following Widdrington to National League North side Kings Lynn Town in 2021.

Career to-date
Barrett was a product of Reading’s youth set-up, rising through the ranks before reaching the first team. He’s also had loan spells with Coventry City and Aldershot Town, before completing a move to Bristol Rovers for an undisclosed fee.

Writer’s View

Josh Barrett found a home with Kings Lynn Town, a club that allowed him to settle down and get back to playing consistent first-team football. The majority of this time was under the management of Tommy Widdrington as they came close to promotion last season.

Likewise, Aldershot Town have had an enjoyable start to the season and Barrett would be linking up with the likes of Josh Stokes in the club’s midfield, making them even stronger the side face off against Southend United and Dagenham & Redbridge in the upcoming National League matches.
