A 67th minute penalty from Jamie Vardy sealed all three points for Enzo Maresca’s side, who moved to the top spot in the table as a result of the victory.

Nigel Pearson’s side travelled to the King Power Stadium, with away supporters previously chanting at Vardy to distract him from the game.

The 36-year-old responded to the previous chanting against his name by running the length of the pitch to mockingly celebrate in front of the away end.

Lineker discussed the circumstance with co-hosts Micah Richards and Alan Shearer during this week’s episode of his podcast.

The ex-English striker said he finds it tremendously satisfying to watch Leicester triumph every weekend in the Championship.

The 62-year-old acknowledged that Vardy’s celebration was one of his favorite parts of the weekend’s football activity.

According to Lineker on the Rest Is Football podcast, “I know I’m a little bit biased, but I’m going to go with Jamie Vardy [as my moment of the weekend].”

“He gave Leicester a 1-0 lead with a penalty kick.

“Top of the Championship, I have to say it’s so much fun in the Championship.

“He scored the goal, and he’s obviously getting heckled by the Bristol fans, I think about his wife, as every game I’ve ever attended at Leicester does from the opposing fans,” the fan said.

And he sprinted somewhat in the manner of [Emmanuel] Adebayor, passing the ball to the traveling Bristol City fans by running the entire length of the field.

“Typical Vardy.

Just a little banter, really.

Leicester is in first place in the Championship standings on goal differential with 21 points out of a possible 24.

The fact that there is only one point separating second place and third place shows how competitive the race for the automatic promotion spots currently is.

Since it is still early in the season, Leicester will be more concerned with achieving weekly goals than worrying too much about the standings.

As they aim for immediate automatic promotion back to the Premier League, Maresca’s team has now won three straight league games.

The Foxes’ next game is an EFL Cup match against premier league team Liverpool on Wednesday night at Anfield.

How has Jamie Vardy performed for Leicester City this season?

Vardy has made eight appearances for Leicester in the Championship this campaign.

The veteran forward has contributed two goals and one assist, having made just three starts.

His minutes are being managed by Maresca, with the experienced striker no longer capable of playing 90 minutes in every game.

Vardy is still a very valuable member of the first team squad, especially given his level of experience.

But he is no longer the guaranteed starting striker in the team, with the likes of Kelechi Iheanacho, Patson Daka and Tom Cannon all vying for the position in Maresca’s side.
