Mark Hughes was pleased with a dominant performance at Newport County, as his side claimed a first victory at Rodney Parade since 1985.
Andy Cook returned from injury with a hat-trick to seal an emphatic 4-1 victory in South Wales.
Hughes was pleased with the intensity his team brought to the game as they scored three first-half goals to push the game out of Newport’s reach.
“I think we played really well,” he said.
“I am pleased with the intensity we started the game with, which was really important.
“Today’s performance was not a surprise to me.
“At any level of football, the first goal is vitally important.
“Getting in front today was massive. Our confidence was huge from that point on, and it showed on the pitch.”
In his first start back after injury, City’s No.9 Andy Cook netted a three-goal haul to open his account for the season.
The Bantams boss was pleased to see his frontman playing with confidence and scoring, insisting he could have netted “any number of goals” today.
“Andy looked really focused before the game today,” he added.
“We knew he was going to get opportunities.
“Once he was off and running, it could have been any number of goals. When Andy gets going, he is very dangerous.
“He scored three very good goals today and I am pleased for him.”
