Huddersfield Town owner Kevin Nagle breaks his silence over Neil Warnock’s imminent departure
Huddersfield Town have confirmed that tomorrow’s Championship fixture against Stoke City at the John Smith’s Stadium will be Neil Warnock’s last match in charge

Kevin Nagle has thanked outgoing manager Neil Warnock for helping lead Huddersfield Town “through the transition”. Warnock, who penned a one-year contract in the summer having joined the Terriers on a short-term deal in February in order to save them from relegation from the Championship, is to leave his position as Town manager after tomorrow’s clash with Stoke City.

Warnock and his assistant Ronnie Jepson will no doubt be given a big send-off against the Potters as the Terriers target a third successive league win. Owner Nagle says the Terriers will “celebrate” Warnock’s latest spell in charge of the club “over the next few days”.

In a statement published on Town’s website, Nagle said: “When I bought the team last summer, before the ink had dried I called Neil to ask him to help shepherd us through the transition.

Huddersfield Town manager decision could pay off but Neil Warnock will remain irreplaceable

“He has done everything we have asked of him. There was never going to be a ‘perfect time’ for this. After some wins? After some losses? It was never about that.

“We knew the time would be when things were settled, and we had identified the person to run this team long term. Now that time has come.

“Over the next few days we will celebrate Neil not just for now, but for all he has done for this organisation throughout the years. And all the praise he receives will be just a fraction of what he’s earned. We wish Neil nothing but the best, with our sincere thanks.”
