Just In: Fresh injury Blow ‘Disappointing’ statement from Derby County’s manager about an injury setback for the 23-year-old creative star
The most recent headlines from League One, including Portsmouth’s draw with Derby County and a serious injury setback for Carlisle United.
Paul Warne, the manager of Derby County, has acknowledged that his team’s performance against Portsmouth on Saturday wasn’t up to par.
In order to move into the League One automatic promotion spots, an unbeaten Pompey team traveled to Pride Park. However, just 86 minutes after arriving, James Collins converted a penalty kick to give the visitors the lead.
But there was late drama as a dramatic equaliser from Pompey striker Colby Bishop earned his side a point and left Warne to deliver an honest assessment of his side’s performance.
He told the Derby Telegraph: “The performance was not us at our best. Portsmouth came here in really good fettle, they haven’t lost a game and kept going right until the end.
But it’s unfortunate to give up a goal so late in the game, especially when I’ve heard it hit Marlon Pack’s arm in the preparation. But if you have three center backs on, you can’t let Bishop play in the six by himself.
Naturally, we’ll play much better, and we’ll play much better while losing. The unfortunate part is that we should be able to finish the game once you get your mind in the game.
