West Brom team vs Bristol City as Carlos Corberan makes two changes

Carlos Corberan, the West Brom manager, has made two alterations to his starting lineup for this afternoon’s match against Bristol City at Ashton Gate. Semi Ajayi and Erik Pieters are brought back into the center of Albion’s defense, which results in a defensive reorganization in the back five.

Ajayi was unwell and missed the loss to Huddersfield before the break, but he played the whole 90 minutes for Nigeria last week. Conor Townsend is replaced by Pieters, who enters on the opposite side of Cedric Kipre on the left.

Despite the addition of Pipa to the lineup, Darnell Furlong stays in the starting lineup. Kyle Bartley also drops to the bench to join the replacements.

For the first time this season, Corberan has a full complement of senior pros to call on; previously required to call upon the club’s promising young players Caleb Taylor and Tom Fellows, the bench now is fully made up of senior outfield players. Taylor Gardner-Hickman, who joined Bristol City on loan with a view to buy last month, is ineligible to play against the Baggies.
