We are thrilled that first team contracts have been signed by Reece Mellor, Alex Pritchard, and Joe Hatch. The three are members of the Hyde United academy and were crucial to the team’s FA Youth Cup victory over Marine last week.
“By signing these three lads, it shows the pathway from the juniors through to the first team,” manager Nick Spooner stated. The club put a lot of effort into creating the walkway over the past few years, and this is a terrific illustration of how hard work pays off.
Last week, I attended the FA Youth Cup and was quite impressed with the entire team. I asked three boys in particular who really impressed me to train with us this week. Reece, Alex, and Joe all seemed comfortable around us and made a strong impression during both sessions.
Reece and Alex entered the club through the youth system, while Joe joined through the academy. We are very happy to see Reece and Alex’s journey begin at the junior level because it demonstrates what perseverance and hard effort can accomplish. A fantastic demonstration of the pipeline that has been established at the club from U6 through to first team, with a great message for all club junior and academy members.
Academy Manager Pete Boyle said ” I’m so proud of the lads for impressing enough to be signed. Everyone has worked so hard behind the scenes and I’m sure all 3 players will go on to achieve great things in football. No doubt there will be more of their u18 team mates joining them very soon too.
Thanks to the gaffer, Coyney and Shawsy for ensuring the pathway from academy to first team is so secure and giving us all the opportunities to progress.”
