Bradford City summer signing emerges as doubt for 24 year old has sustained an injury
Bradford City will make late checks on Tyler Smith ahead of their game this weekend, as per a report by the Telegraph & Argus.
Bradford City are back in action on Saturday afternoon with a home clash against Grimsby Town.
Smith, 24, has sustained an injury in training and has emerged as a doubt for the match against the Mariners.
The Bantams’ boss Mark Hughes has told the Telegraph & Argus: “We’ll give him as long as he needs but at the moment he’s a doubt. Losing Tyler would be a blow but we’ve got options. We can look at different things.”
Potential blow for Bradford
As Hughes alluded to, not having Smith would be a blow for Bradford. He provides useful competition and depth in their striking department and is eager to find some form following his summer move.
The Yorkshire club swooped to sign him following his departure from Hull City to sharpen their attacking options. He has since scored once in eight games for his new club.
Smith spent two years on the books at the MKM Stadium and joined the Tigers after they won the League One title under former manager Grant McCann in 2021. He went on to make 39 appearances for the Championship club and found the net on five occasions, as well as having a loan spell away at Oxford United in the third tier in the last campaign.
The Sheffield-born man started his career at Sheffield United and rose up through the ranks of the Blades before playing once for their first-team. He was shipped out on loan from Bramall Lane at Barrow, Doncaster Rovers, Bristol Rovers, Rochdale and Swindon Town as a youngster to gain experience.
Bradford is his home now but it remains unclear whether he will be fit for their clash against Grimsby. Hughes’ men drew 0-0 against Mansfield Town last time out.
