“It was right for me” – Player happy with move to Nottingham Forest, and explains why
Nottingham Forest were active in the recently concluded transfer window as they added over a dozen players to their squad for this season.
Anthony Elanga was among them, arriving at the City Ground from Manchester United, and prior to joining the Tricky Trees, he had several options to pick from.
Speaking to Fotbollskanalen, the forward has explained why he decided to join Nottingham Forest.
“There were many options, but I think Nottingham was right for me. The club is in the Premier League, has a coach who knows me very well. So, it was right for me,” he said.
The Sweden international has made four appearances this season. He’s scored a goal in the process, which was the winner in his side’s win over Chelsea last weekend.
His goal helped Nottingham Forest register their second away win since returning to the Premier League in 2022 and also their first victory against the Blues at Stamford Bridge in 29 years.
On his goal against Chelsea, Elanga explained: “It felt good. It’s always nice. I think it was the club’s first goal there, against Chelsea, since 1995. So, 29 years. It was nice.”
The 21-year-old, who has received a lot of help from his teammates to adjust to his new life at Nottingham Forest, is delighted with the start he’s had, and also believes Steve Cooper’s side will have a good season.
“We have had a good start with six points after four games. We are developing as a team and I think we can do really well this season,” the Swede added.
“It’s been nice. The city is nice. The leaders are nice to me. The players are also good. It’s a new team for me so it wasn’t easy at first to move there. But everyone has helped me a lot. Now I am more comfortable.”
The player hopes to extend his Nottingham Forest form when Sweden face Estonia and Austria in the European qualifiers in the coming days.
