Respected journalist lauds Nottingham Forest star after win over Chelsea
Paul Taylor raved about Ryan Yates after Nottingham Forest defeated Chelsea 1-0 at Stamford Bridge yesterday. The Forest midfielder was outstanding as the Reds claimed a fantastic victory on the road.
Yates was a real driving force behind the Forest victory. On a weekend where the Reds landed Nicolas Dominguez and Ibrahim Sangare, this was a game where all the midfielders needed a performance.
The Forest academy graduate is never afraid of a challenge. Here, he left Forest head coach Steve Cooper with a real conundrum with a performance that typified his persona.
Yates sometimes divides opinion but nobody can ever knock his willingness to do great things for the cause. He has now been a mainstay in the team for a number of years and the fans adore him.
Forest won the game through a goal by Anthony Elanga. It was perhaps the hustle and bustle of Yates on Moises Caicedo that created the goal though and boy did he look like a player with a point to prove yesterday.
Taylor raved about Yates after Forest win
The Athletic journalist knows Forest like the back of his hand. He’s been covering the club for many years and is largely respected among the fan base.
Yesterday he lauded Yates for his showing at Stamford Bridge. After the game, he took to Twitter to claim that the player had impressed him during the contest, saying:
Yates will remain a player that Forest can count on. Cooper is unlikely to change all of his midfield so quickly and hopefully, he can still play a part in the team.
At 25-years-old, the player is still not at full potential. He improves with every single game he’s given and there seems no chance that Cooper takes him out of the team any time soon.
