Updates On Two Bradford City ‘Creative Star’ Injuries As Coach Thinks On Who To Start In The Next Match

CITY will make a late call on Alex Pattison for Saturday’s clash with Mansfield.

The club’s current top scorer was taken off at half-time in the Carabao Cup at Wrexham with a tight hamstring.

But Mark Hughes hopes to have Clarke Oduor back in contention after missing the last two games with a slight groin issue.

“Clarke trained today and he should be available as long as he doesn’t get a reaction,” said Hughes at this afternoon’s press conference.

“We monitored his training to a certain extent. He didn’t play a full part, it was just about easing him in.

“Thursdays can be quite brisk because, more often than not after a Tuesday game, the lads who weren’t involved get more of a session.

“We’ll see how he is but the hope is that he can be involved for the weekend.

“It was a shame (to lose him) but he did the right thing. He just felt his groin being a little bit stiff on longer passing last Friday in training.

“We’re going to have to wait on Alex Pattison because he was a bit tight in his hamstring.

“We obviously erred on the side of caution and took him off at half-time. Hopefully that will allow him to make the weekend.”

Andy Cook, who was not involved in midweek, remains touch and go while Kevin McDonald returned to training this morning.

His knee remains slightly swollen after the allergic reaction believed to have come from an insect bite. The Scot, who is on a course of anti-biotics, should be okay for Saturday’s squad.

Hughes also said that Ash Taylor is “not a million miles away” after getting out on the grass today.

Meanwhile, Harry Chapman had a little setback which might delay his long-awaited October comeback by a further week.
