JUST IN: Another Huddersfield Town creative star Earns First England Call-Up

Former Huddersfield Town defender Levi Colwill has been called up to the England squad for the first time in his career, ahead of September’s international break as confirmed by England’s official Twitter page.

The Chelsea defender has been selected to represent England in their upcoming European Qualifier as well as their 150th anniversary friendly against the neighbours up above.

Levi Colwill’s Huddersfield spell

Colwill arrived at Huddersfield Town in July 2021, spending the entirety of the 2021/22 campaign with the football club. He made his debut during a 1-1 draw against Derby County and went on to make 32 appearances in all competitions, scoring twice and assisting another.

He was part of the Huddersfield side that shocked the EFL making it all the way to the Championship play-off final, playing the full match as the club slipped to a 1-0 loss against Nottingham Forest.

What’s happened since?
After Huddersfield failed to gain promotion, the club lost the likes of Lewis O’Brien and Harry Toffolo and had a difficult 2022/23 campaign in the Championship.

The club looked destined for relegation before Neil Warnock came in and kept the Terriers in the Championship, guiding them to an 18th placed finish, nine points above the relegation zone.

Who else has been selected?

Ahead of the matches against Ukraine and Scotland, Gareth Southgate has also named Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah, AC Milan’s Fikayo Tomori and Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze in the squad, alongside the usual suspects like Harry Kane, Jordan Pickford and Harry Maguire.

Writer’s View

Colwill has had an outstanding few seasons for Huddersfield, Brighton and Chelsea and his inclusion in the latest England side shouldn’t be a shock to anyone.

The defender is yet to make his England debut but has featured throughout the youth scene from U15s to the U21s, earning 30 caps and scoring once.
