The agent of Rogerio has confirmed that AC Milan expressed an interest in his client before he made the move from Sassuolo to Wolfsburg.
Milan have been in the market for a new left-back all summer given that Fode Ballo-Toure is quite clearly no longer a part of the plans, leaving the role of deputy to Theo Hernandez currently vacant for the moment.
One of the names that they were briefly linked with was Rogerio while he was at Sassuolo. It was La Gazzetta dello Sport who claimed last month that the 25-year-old appears to be a possible option to replace the Senegal international.
Calciomercato.com interviewed the player’s agent Vinicius Prattes about how the move to the Bundesliga came about and whether there was actually an opportunity for his client to remain in Serie A.
“Rogerio is very happy, the Bundesliga is a new stage, one of the strongest leagues in the world that will give him the chance to improve his game and realize his dream of playing with the Brazilian national team.”
Why did the relationship with Sassuolo end so soon?
“I don’t see it as a premature break. Rogerio had been at Sassuolo for many years and it was time for a change. Wolfsburg’s offer was adequate to be able to find an agreement between all parties.
What went wrong with Milan, Lazio and Nice?
“Contacts, but I can only say that the only club that has reached an economic agreement with Sassuolo was Wolfsburg.”
