Aston Villa ‘approached’ French club for €40m defender
Latest Aston Villa news from BirminghamLive brings you Villa’s reported interest in Nice centre-back Jean-Clair Todibo
Aston Villa have made contact with OGC Nice over centre-back Jean-Clair Todibo, it has been claimed.
That’s according to French outlet Nice-Matin who claim the 23-year-old has attracted interest from several clubs in recent months. According to the report, Villa were mentioned among the clubs to have approached Nice.
Newcastle United, West Ham, Paris Saint-Germain and Napoli are also said to be interested in his services. However, Nice have set a high asking price for the defender.
A reported asking price of €40-50million (£34-42m) may tempt Nice into negotiations. Todibo has also caught the eye of Saudi Arabian teams, but it is claimed that the defender has closed the door over a potential move to the Middle East.

Todibo is under contract until 2027 and there is hope from Nice that he will continue at the Allianz Riviera as he heads into his fourth season at the club.
Speaking about his future, Todibo said earlier this year: “I don’t know if it would be the right choice to go elsewhere. It’s not the time to think about it.
“I am much more serene about this now, and if I am called upon to make a choice, I will do it with a lot of reflection. I am very grateful to Nice. They have given me a lot, and I hope to give back as much as possible by wearing this shirt.”
