Birmingham City’s Josh Andrews has joined Accrington Stanley on a season-long loan.
The 21-year-old striker was part of John Eustace’s squad for Blues’ pre-season training camp in Spain, but now leaves for the League Two club.
Andrews endured an injury-hit loan at Doncaster Rovers during the last campaign. He had only made five appearances for Rovers when he was sidelined with tendonitis in his left knee.
“I started off quite well during the pre-season with Doncaster, but after I picked up the injury and you spend a season on the sidelines just watching training and games, you get a proper hunger to get back. Now that I am fit again, I take every training session like it might be my last,” he said earlier this month.
“That feeling of getting injured again, I don’t want to ever have that. I don’t take it for granted.”
“The gaffer (Eustace) has been really good with me,” he added.
“When he came in, pretty much two days later, I was out to Doncaster, so he never got to see me play really at the start. But when I was back because of my injury, he was always asking how it is and when I will be back.
“Since I have been back in training this pre-season, he has given me all the confidence in the world to play the way that I play and do the best that I can.”
