BREAKING NEWS: ASTON VILLA COMFIRMED THE DEPARTURE OF ANOTHTER STAR

Unai Emery has now decided that Keinan Davis is free to leave Aston Villa for good in the summer transfer market following the forward’s return from a loan with Watford.

That is according to The Guardian, which reports that Emery will not stand in Davis’ way of a permanent move. Aston Villa are determined to continue strengthening the Spaniard’s team ahead of their return to Europe. But Villa Park chiefs are aware of the need to let players go.

Youri Tielemans and Pau Torres have already joined Aston Villa and Marvelous Nakamba has now left to join Luton Town. But the Birmingham natives are advancing their efforts to afford Emery further signings after bringing UEFA football back to Villa for the first time since 2010.

Emery will let Davis leave Aston Villa in a permanent transfer
But Aston Villa’s progress since Emery replaced Steven Gerrard in charge last November has left Davis out in the wilderness. He returned to Bodymoor Heath this summer after spending the 2022/23 campaign with Watford to find he no longer has a future in claret-and-blue now.

Davis always needed a strong season on loan at Vicarage Road to claim a greater role back in Birmingham. His contract only runs until June 2024 and Aston Villa do not want to let him go for free next June. So, Emery has decided that the 25-year-old can go this year, instead.

Life with Watford was not always rosy for Davis
Life with Watford was not always rosy for Davis to assure Emery that Aston Villa can grant his permanent transfer. The striker played 34 times for the Hornets and started 27 of his outings at Vicarage Road. He also recorded seven goals and two assists, each in the Championship.

His then-head coach Chris Wilder even dubbed Davis ‘fabulous’ in March. But his comments came after the Stevenage-born star ended his 16-match stretch without any goals or assists. Before his goal to help thrash Birmingham City, Davis last scored in October against Luton.

Now, Davis will likely have to hope that a Championship club looks kindly on his three goals and two assists in eight outings to end the season well to secure a transfer from Aston Villa. Clearly, even with their extra games from playing in Europe, Emery does see a role for Davis.
