Birmingham City have confirmed the signing of 18-year-old Katie Dungate after eight years with Women’s Super League champions Chelsea
Birmingham City have confirmed the signing of former Chelsea youngster Katie Dungate on a two-year deal.
The move is subject to league approval but, after spending eight years at Women’s Super League side Chelsea in their youth set-up, the 18-year-old has opted to sign her first professional contract with the Midlands club. Last season in the WSL Academy League, Dungate scored 16 goals and helped them to the WSL Academy League Cup final.
The youngster is also capped for England at youth level having represented the under-19s team. She joins the Blues ahead of their second season in the Championship and Darren Carter’s side will be hopeful of securing promotion after narrowly missing out to Bristol City last term. Speaking to BluesTV, the 18-year-old expressed her delight at signing for City. “I can’t wait to get started,” she said. “Hearing about the strong season last year, and the group of girls that are here, I just knew this is where I wanted to be.
