Newcastle United name 34-man squad for US tour with five notable absentees
Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe has named his squad for the three games in the United States
Newcastle United have arrived in Atlanta to begin their summer tour after 34 players jetted across the pond following the 2-1 win over Glasgow Rangers.
United’s 100 plus party included backroom staff, ground staff, the supporter liason team and club and loan manager Shola Ameobi who will be teaming up with Toon legend Shay Given who will take part in fan events in three different US cities across the Magpies’ stay.

Other absentees included Ryan Fraser, Jeff Hendrick and Isaac Hayden as the club try to find solutions to ease their wage bill and pave the way for more new signings. Eddie Howe hopes that Harvey Barnes will be joining the Magpies later in the trip.
Newcastle and Leicester City are understood to have agreed a fee of around £38million last night. The England international has agreed personal terms in principle with United.
Howe has included a strong contingent of youngsters for the squad with midfielder Joe Willock and defender Emil Krafth still not ready to play. Nick Pope is also feeling his way back into contention after a finger operation last season.
Newcastle’s Premier League Summer Series campaign kicks off this weekend with a tough clash against Aston Villa. Unai Emery’s side also face Newcastle in the top-flight curtain raiser next month.
